After a three-week delay to complete the PDRA season opener at Darlington Dragway due to weather, the event was finished today at DARANA Motorsports Park in Benson, NC. McGee qualified second and worked through a highly competitive field to reach the winner’s circle.
In Round 1, he faced John Coffin, who ran a 4.79 to McGee’s 4.655. In Round 2, McGee had a bye run and delivered a personal best 4.54. After the second round, PDRA officials postponed the remainder of the Carolina Nationals to this weekend at DARANA Motorsports Park.
In the semifinal round, McGee matched up against Austin Vincent in a marquee race, taking the win with a 4.62 over Vincent’s 4.68. In the final round, he faced past world champion Dan Whetstine and secured the win with a 4.51 to Whetstine’s 4.68.
Staying focused through a race that spanned multiple weeks was a challenge, but the McGee Racing team stayed prepared and executed when it mattered most.
